How are people finding my blog?

I did a quick analysis of the keywords on my site that are helping people to find my blog using the simple tables of information that Wordpress has built into it. I had never paid much attention to some of the statistics generated by my blog beyond the visitor numbers each day, despite the plentiful details to which I have access.

As it turns out, people are coming to my blog mainly for ideas on how to use QR codes (35%), car washing (32% - I wrote a post connecting car washing to cash flow), the name of my blog (12%) and to find out about the difference between search and research (11%).

Finding new ideas for posts is always a challenge but this insight has given me some food for thought about writing more deeply on these subjects if people are interested in them. I see an increasing number of QR codes used in marketing campaigns and on products.

This week I also presented to a local business club about digital marketing and how it can help them find more customers. During the course of the presentation someone asked about skills they need these days in their businesses. I thought about it for a second and said that I think we now need to be good at search. There is so much information available but often not much knowledge. Becoming a better searcher will help people to be more competitive. It's a vital skill these days.
