Leadership Tips for Business Success

Effective management and leadership
Leadership is easy in theory and difficult to implement in practice. Good leadership is not usually down to who is the most qualified or senior person in a team or company. It's often down to an individual who understands their team well and how to deploy their skills to get the required results. That is usually someone who understand people well in addition to know their field well.

Surveys by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) earlier this year showed how important good leadership and management are to employees in the UK. The research from the CMI showed that nearly half of managers are ineffective. As an employee, there is little more demoralising in a job (other than not being paid or sacked) than having a bad manager.

Managers often mistake their management position with being someone who is a broadcaster/dictator in their approach to their team with leadership. Their poor leadership and poor management skills lead to employees to getting stressed, becoming unproductive and leaving for better positions or just positions that are not reporting to the poor manager.

However, people can learn to be better managers and, in turn, better leaders with support and training.
The CMI is offering employers three months of free access to their Management Dynamic tool. Here's what the CMI says about their service:

The tool will enable them to identify their organisation’s priorities in just 2 minutes and see how tailored management and leadership development could help their managers work more effectively. Ultimately, improving organisational performance.

There are plenty of other resources on offer through this service. For the sake of your employees, why not give it a whirl and see if you can build better, more effective management amongst your managers.
