Many people are taking the option of starting their own business, rather than the hum drum life of routine, from working for someone else. If you have an idea for a business, you need to research the area where you live to see if someone else is already doing it.
You need to think of the finance costs to start up your own business, and start off small. You do not need expensive premises, as a spare room or garage will do as your base initially. Only take on employees if you have to, as the cost of their wages will be another factor to think of. Locate the materials or tools you will need as cheap as possible. You can always buy better once your business kicks off!
Which business could you start up for yourself, with the minimum layout costs? Here are some ideas that you may choose:-
Window Cleaner
Everyone is so busy these days, and working longer hours, that they do not have time to clean their windows regularly. Older people find cleaning upstairs windows difficult, so if you research your area well, this could prove to be a lucrative business option. All that you need is access to water, a bucket, cloths and a ladder, so materials can be cheap, and transport to get you there. If you make a policy of being paid as you clean them, you will save money by not having to return to collect payments! To advertise, you could put a notice in local shop windows or post flyers through doors to let prospective customers know you are available.Handyman
If you are competent at manual tasks such as painting and decorating, gardening, fencing and general maintenance skills, then you could have your own business doing odd jobs! Many people either do not have time, or the skills necessary to do these tasks, and would welcome help. You only need to own a good tool box, with some basic tools for whatever job you are doing, which you can get fairly cheap initially. Advertise your skills, with social media, or posting flyers, and get family and friends to give you good references, as this will help!Driving Instructor
Starting up any business is always a big step, so if you are a PDI or ADI, you can buy into a driving school franchise, where they do most of the hard work for you! Drive Dynamics guarantee pupils, book appointments and advertise for you, when you join their national driving school. All that you need is an adapted car, which, with some franchise packages, is provided for you as well, so minimum outlay costs, but big dividends!Mobile Hairdresser
People love to look nice and keep their hair tidy, so good hairdressers are always in demand. You can work hours to suit your personal lifestyle, and startup costs are very low. You only need some good pairs of scissors, brushes and combs, hair dryer, straighteners, curling tongs, mirror, and a good knowledge of different hair styles to start. You can advertise yourself free on social media websites, or put adverts in shop windows, and have reliable transport to get you to appointments on time. It is cheaper being mobile, as water and electric costs are at the client’s expense!Private Tutoring
If you are educationally qualified in a specialist subject, such as Maths, English or another language, Music or Science, you could start your own venture of Private Tuition. Many students and pupils need extra help to attain the grades needed, and parents do not always have the time, or education to help them themselves, so welcome the help. You could ask at local schools and colleges, if you could advertise in their newsletter, or on notice boards, and update yourself on curriculum guidelines for the subject concerned. Minimum outlay required, but could prove to be a profitable business!Plan and research your business idea locally and online. Start small, and build it up gradually. Keep costs to a minimum, and profits will be greater.
